The problem with SOJ is that it takes way to long to kill with and you have no way to manage energy except for earth attunement. Try the build I posted earlier...got from Ensign. Works great. You can take on how ever manyyou can aggro and still come out full of energy and health at the end. Whirlwind - Aftershock - Crystal Wave when they all come back. Spam Aura of Restoration and AoE to keep kinetic up. You should be able to kill a pack of about 9-12 Griffs in 30 secs or so.

agreed with pegasux, I use that build as well, but without crystal wave, windborn speed instead, to get rid of rockshots/avicara, works great.

i'm sure that the reason you need an e/mo for this build is because of the BA. keeping up your energy is an important part of any solo ele build, especially in this case since you dont have anyone to back you up (in theory).

I have found the build using ether renewal to be basically better than Balth's spirit.
Most importantly though, I suggest to ANYONE using the geo solo builds, to grab hold of Galigord's Stone Staff.
1.) +15 energy total
2.) 20% chance of recharge on earth spells (woot!!!!!!!)
3.) 20% chance of half cast time on earth spells (woot!!!!!!!)
4.) One of the best reasons, ENCHANTMENTS LAST 20% longer! your earth attune and armor or earth and aura or restoration last longer, and in my case with 15-16 earth magic, enchanments like earth attune now actually last longer than they take to recharge, which is a good thing.
5.) Its cheap since geo is not exactly popular, I bought mine for only 4k one deal I got was 10k cause one guy asked his guildies on the price, but I knew better! So i waited a little and got than less of half the price!
6.) You can say to a girl "Oh baby I want you to touch my rock hard staff" without getting slapped or reported >.>

I can guarantee it can be done with an Ele. My ele is low level atm, but I am 100% sure I can do it.
And many wand attacks are elemental.

I started using the original build (first post) with my E/Mo, with one exception: I substituted Aftershock for Obsidian Flame to avoid the exhaustion. I made one short run outside of Drok's against trolls and ice golems, then one outside Augury against Minotaurs. It seems to work very well if you avoid mesmers and the like. Made a profit of about 2.6k for about 30 min. of farming. (Not counting the non-max FDS I will be selling shortly...)
I took a couple screenshots, hopefully the site I posted them on lets you see them.

I have tried soloing the UW with many variations of this build, with and without obsid flesh as my elite. It has never worked but i always get the aatax to abt 1/4 health. Each Aatax still hits for 9-22 dmg and the bleeding and deep wound hurt a lot...
Smites i think will b a problem since they do armor ignoring dmg (last i checked holy dmg ignored armor).
Ubermancer plz send me a pm if u come up with anything interested (if u want to of course).

Nick Andros the newbie farmer is in love with this build. I ran northeast of Augury Rock and killed every hydra, avoided the centaurs, and zoned into the wide-open area with all the sand drakes (I forget the name). Below are some screenshots.
And then of course, a few of these little bastards ended my fun:
Sorry about all the picture spamming, but I just really like this build. I'd never really done serious farming before, and I'm raking in the cash now. Have fun, guys.

I tryed build similar to this yesterday just outside droks.
Found some wierd thing - it seems like instead of giving me energy balthazar's spirit was burning it out.
Tryed 4 times with the same result. I aggro bunch of avicaras just off the exit, absorb couple of volleys and next thing i know my egergy is at 0... wtf?

Oh man, I saw this build and thougth why not give it a try (tx for posting the build)
And since I fell in love with it
I only change the obsidian flame with some other skill (ele or monks, tried many and found 3 very usefull - like healing breeze, obsidian flesh and earthquake) and are practically invincable.
Yesterday did a gvg with, and man the enemy warriors looked scared when did didn't got my ele down, the keep on bashing my fire outfit, and not a single dent got in it. Only thing missing was the look in the players faces controlling those warriors
It's a fantastic build man, tx again for the blueprint

Instead of Obsidian Flame, as the OP put, can't you use Shockwave? Because I don't see an elite.

I would recommend (if you have Factions):
1)Taking away aftershock and replacing it with Tenai's Crystals or sliver armor (OMG I love this skill).
2) This is just me personally, but I would take away obsidian flame, and replace it with something else (maybe even tenai's crystal or ward against melee). It does damage, but only to one target, and causes exhaustion, which i hate.
3)Taking out bath's aura and using dual elemental attunement (Elite Elemental Attunement + Earth Attunement). You can spam both crystal wave and tenai's crystal like mad with both of these active (trust me). Of course you will be dead with enhancement removal dudes. Keeps you at 4 pips of energy too.
4) Also, I would run a healing spell like healing breeze to replace aura of restoration.

I know not a E/Mo build (used it before going E/Me now), but try to switch baltazars spirit for channeling if that is your only monk skill you use. Speaking out of my own experience with it, and it netts you much more energy (killed a max of 14 grouped hydra's once with it - but you'll need to be lucky with the spawn and the pull you have to do to get together).

A build that I've been using for minotaur and cave troll farming is as follows. This is based on the one recently posted for soloing underworld as a non 55 hp elementalist, but I've altered it slightly for the purposes of these areas
Category: Geomancer with mesmer secondary
Attributes:
Earth Magic - 16 (12 + 3 + 1)
Energy Storage - 9 (8 + 1)
Inspiration Magic - 10
Skills:
Aura of Restoration - Energy Storage
Sliver Armor - Earth Magic
Aftershock - Earth Magic
Spirit of Failure - Inspiration Magic
Glyph of Renewal {E} - No Attribute
Magnetic Aura - Earth Magic
Armor of Earth - Earth Magic
Kinetic Armor - Earth Magic
Summary:
Basically this build would be good for any area where you have a lot of melee mobs beating on you at a time. I hard take any damage at all with this build. Basically you cast aura of restoration, aggro the mobs, cast kinetic armor, armor of earth, use glyph of renewal and then magnetic aura (always use the glyph before magnetic aura so you can keep it up indefinitely) and then use sliver armor as much as you can. The energy management comes from spirit of failure. At 10 inspiration you're getting 4 energy everytime the mob misses you, and with magnetic aura, sliver armor, and the 25% chance to miss from spirit of failure itself, they're missing you a lot. Try to get this spell on as many mobs as possible for maximum energy. Then just cast aftershock whenever you can, and keep all your spells refreshed as much as possible. If you run the build perfectly you finish off all the mobs with almost full health and full energy, which is kinda funny. This build works amazingly well for minotaurs and cave trolls outside droks, and I imagine would for any other melee mobs who come in large numbers.
Credit:
Credit where credit is due. This is basically the same build posted by Nechtan Thaumaturge for soloing underworld, but I switched out empathy from his for aftershock to allow more attributes for earth and inspiration.

Sorry I'm new to Guild Wars. I have an E/Mo and was looking at this build. Can't you use Elemental Attunement in place of Earth Attunement because they seem to cost the same amount of energy and have the same casting/recharge time, except except earth attunement last longer I suppose? I have not obtained either skill yet, so i'm just curious to find out.

basically, if you just go e/mo, you can do it. copy+paste any solo monk build for uw and mod it and change attributes around.
Example: 55 monks use spellbreaker? use obsidian flesh. If you cop a 55 build, just make sure you bring essence bond+balth's aura+prot spirit+mending+breeze (just like any 55) and supplement with attack skills. Sliver armor would probably be good vs smite crawlers, tenai's crystals/crystal wave is always good for farming, etc.
